Mindfulness Meditation Timer
There are more and more smart phone apps designed to encourage mindfulness practice. Insight Timer is one of the most popular. In addition to I-Qi it is a wonderful timer to support formal sitting practice.
I learned of i-qi clock (pronounced Eye-Chi ~ qi as in qigong) from one of my MBSR students in 2011 and have been enjoying it ever since. There are many different types of bells to choose from, nine in total and you can create a number of meditations sessions and store them all. For example, I have one set up to sound every 15 minutes, another that sounds three bells when it begins to play and then 20 minutes later sounds another three bells. You could create one to sound a bell every 5 minutes or every minute for as long as you liked and then end with three sounds of the bell so you know you’ve reached the end of your sit. It’s very versatile and the sound quality of the various bells is quite wonderful.
There are so many different meditation timers out there I encourage you to search on your own device and see which other ones you like. This one is my favorite!
