Want to bring Mindfulness to your Business, Non-Profit or Academic Institution?
Augusta has a confident and knowing way about her. She walks the walk of mindfulness with ease and grace, and no small dose of enthusiasm for her mission, which is to bring to others the same kind of awareness of and appreciation for life’s beauty and mystery she possesses. After just one brief session with Augusta, I’m hard-pressed to experience anything the way I did before. I’d call that impact, with a profound yet simple purpose attached.— William Shutkin • President, Presidio School of Management
For-Profit Business ~ improve productivity, decision-making, and engagement
Augusta offers talks for a wide array of audiences. For Arup, an international engineering and design consultancy she tailored the talk to the mindset of people highly skilled in ‘multi-tasking’- engineers, designers, planners, technical specialists and administrative personnel. Sixty people gathered to learn how to reduce their stress by bringing awareness to their actions throughout each day. As an example, together they experienced deeply the act of eating a slice of pizza. They saw the disparate components that created the pizza, both tangible and intangible. Through this investigation greater appreciation for the present moment was developed. Discussion led participants to understand that the primary cause of stress is resistance to things as they are.
Non-Profit Organization ~ create more focus, cooperation and teamwork
Workshops are more interactive. Participants engage directly in a range of practices as they sample the pieces of the full MBSR course in an afternoon or day. For the Environmental Protection Agency, Augusta designed an afternoon to engage lawyers, administrators and environmental engineers. They came together to enjoy present moment awareness and develop skills for cultivating ease in daily life. They were guided through mindful movements, sitting meditation, walking meditation and mindful eating grounded in the teachings of Thich Nhat Nanh.
Educational Institution ~ introduce presence, gain energy and enthusiasm
Sometimes the smallest actions present the greatest lessons. For Presidio School of Management, Augusta has offered poetry, eating meditation and mindful raisin eating and mindful water drinking. There are so many vehicles for cultivating awareness. She has offered session at Presidio for current students as a guest lecturer in the Effective Management Communication and Action course. For Alumni at the annual amulni alumni gathering where an intimate group learned about how the mind can care for itself through cultivating awareness of how things are.
Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) was developed as an 8-week course by Jon Kabat-Zinn, PhD in 1979 at the University of Massachusetts. The course is now offered at more than 600 institutions worldwide.
My working definition of mindfulness is paying attention, on purpose, from moment to moment, with non-judging awareness.— John Kabat-Zinn • founder, MBSR
MBSR is a formal 8-week course that can be offered at your organization. In addition stand alone workshops are available to give you and your team an opportunity to experience the immediate benefits of mindfulness practice. Workshops include both lecture, practice and discussion. For longer term results on-going practice is necessary. This is offered in a number of forms:
- standard 8-week MBSR course as developed by John Kabat-Zinn
