Mindfulness Meditation Classes – MBSR

Group MBSR Classes • Private One-on-One Sessions • Workshops for Organizations • Register

Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) is the original mainstream mindfulness meditation class.

Open to all. Approximately 20 participants.

Eight 2.5-hour evening sessions; plus orientation and daylong.

This comprehensive mindfulness course consists of eight weekly evening classes and one weekend daylong session. Students learn mindfulness principles and experience meditation practices to access calm, reduce stress and live well.

The MBSR curriculum was developed in 1979 by Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn, Ph.D., an internationally recognized scientist, writer, and meditation teacher who was at the forefront of bringing mindfulness into the mainstream. Backed by decades of research, MBSR is widely recognized for its benefits to personal health. Courses are now offered at more than 600 institutions worldwide with the aim of helping individuals access the benefits of mindfulness meditation through practical and relevant instruction regardless of one’s cultural or ideological background.

Through the weekly group sessions, led by Augusta, and daily personal practice, participants come to recognize their own emotional states and respond with greater awareness and intention. Augusta supports each individual to develop their own practice from a diverse offering of mindfulness-building activities, that includes formal guided practices like sitting meditation and body scanning as well as daily informal awarenesses aimed at accessing the present through the regular activities of daily life.

For over three decades, participants in MBSR have reported benefits1 including:

  • greater energy and enthusiasm
  • increased ability to relax
  • improved self-esteem
  • ability to cope more effectively with stressful situations

The class itself taught me so much about different meditation practices. What I loved was that Augusta did not recommend one over others or try to make us do something specific. She opened up the options for what we could do and gave us the tools to do what we thought was best for us. […] The best part of going to class for me though was being around Augusta and her positive energy.

I was totally intimidated by meditation, thinking I would never be able to sit still long enough to do it – but Augusta taught me to let the notions of a wandering mind go – and over time – I actually seek out times in the day now just for meditation. She really helps to demystify mindfulness, meditation, QiGong and other practices in such a down to earth, comforting way. Her approach is so warm and inviting that I will for sure miss this course, after having it each week. I’m a lot calmer, and really am able to stop a lot of judging and striving behavior as it’s happening – which leads to a way more ‘let it be’ relaxed attitude.I highly recommend this to anyone who is curious and seeking a way to calm down the insanity that life brings every day. Thank you SO much Augusta! You’re totally awesome!!

By the end of this class, not only had my stress and anxiety become more comfortable, but I created enough space within myself to answer some very important questions about my future. Cannot recommend working with Augusta enough.

Augusta is experienced and she also happens to be very cool person. She wants your life to be better as a result of her course and it was easy to tell she truly cares. She taught us many kinds of meditation introducing one at a time. I always looked forward to coming to class and also found myself enjoying meditation in between the days we met. It was enlightening to learn how even 10 minutes of sitting can clear your mind and bring calm. We also learned deep breathing technique to check in and reduce stress which I implement quite often. 😉 Qigong and Mindful Eating definitely stood out. It was one of the best gifts I gave myself this year.
